Coaches
Coaches play an integral part in our sport helping crews to refine their technique, strategy and physical conditioning. Each athlete is different, and coaches work on a blend of maximising an individual's performance and how it contributes harmoniously to the team.
AUSDBF has an extensive suite of coaching resources.
Drummers
Drummers are an important part of the crew. They must be knowledgeable and confident to elicit the team’s trust and response. The best drummers have gained wide experience, relate to paddlers’ pain, know the racing rules and regulations and understand technique. Sweeps
Sweeps have the ultimate responsibility for the safety of their crews and other water users, must be alert to other navigational hazards, steer the boat safely and maintain crew discipline and cohesion. They've got a bit on!
There is extensive training and support to progress to become a level 3 sweep, an accreditation required to compete at Australian Championships. You can find DBV sweep resources below:
