North East Hub
Published Sat 01 Feb 2025
One of the goals of DBVs strategic plan is to increase the accessibility of dragon boating across Victoria. Developing an additional metro site at Footscray has been an exciting development, and now DBV has the opportunity of creating a North East hub at Wodonga.
A fleet of 6 Champions dragon boats has been permanently located there thanks to support and collaboration with the Wodonga City Council, Gateway Lakes Users Group and Brave Hearts DBC. This will allow us to expand the paddling program in northern Victoria, which also attracts competitors from NSW and ACT clubs and brings regional communities closer together.
This also offers exciting opportunities for additional regattas in a well-established regional location, as well as allowing local clubs and DBV to run courses for sweeps and coaches, on-water workshops, plus opportunities to attract corporate groups and develop junior paddling through involving local schools. The concept is in its early stages but we look forward to all the exciting opportunities this offers.
