Temperament and Behaviour
Published Wed 27 Nov 2024
In another sport, after passing examinations and assessing competencey at the base level, candidates for official accreditation have to get references from the senior official at 3 different events, these are the questions they are asked about Temperament and Behaviour.
We looked at the list and thought they all seemed pretty good for explaining how we expect our people to work with others. Is this in line with the expectations in your team, committee or club committees are?
We are sharing this with the VIC 25 Coaches as we are keen to calibrate in this area and they are a great source of feedback.
• Did the candidate demonstrate a willingness to accept the rules as written?
• Is the candidate a good listener, taking into account fellow committee members opinions and observations?
• Is the candidate able to communicate clearly and calmly with fellow committee members, competitors and organisers?
• Did the candidate ask pertinent questions based on the getting to the relevant facts?
• Did the candidate contribute meaningfully to the discussions in the committee meetings?
• After expressing their opinion, was the candidate willing to accept the decision of the team?
• Is the candidate willing to learn and accept change?
• Does the candidate accept the sport’s rules and cases and comply with the Code of Conduct?
• Is the candidate willing to work within a team?
• Does the candidate keep calm under stress and make timely, accurate decisions?
• Is the candidate open minded and accepting of the point of view of others?
• Is the candidate empathetic with competitors, but treats all committee matters as confidential?
• Is the candidate able to maintain good relations with committee members, organisers and other race officials?
• Is the candidate cordial and polite, but keeps appropriate distances from competitors, coaches and team managers?
