AGM DETAILS
Due to a number of Members having major regattas on the planned AGM weekend, we have moved the date to Sunday 11th December 2016; the location remains the same (St Ives Hotel, 64 Lincoln Causeway, Gateway Island VIC 3691, Wodonga) commencing at 10am. We recognise that this date will still impact some of you because of regattas, ‘Come & Try’ days, etc, but hope that by holding it later in the season, might make it easier. As you know, the dragon boat calendar at this end of the year is always full.
If any members have already booked travel and it is non transferable, please let us know and we can talk further.
Please submit agenda items by COB Friday 11th November 2016 to info@ausdbf.com.au. The final agenda and nominations (see below) will be circulated at least 21 days prior to the AGM.
NOMINATING FOR ELECTION
As you are aware, we are operating under a new Constitution and the current Board members are 'First Directors', namely:
David Abel
Angie Aston
Maggie Boyce
Victor Fazakerley
Martin Hastings
Lesa Horntvedt
Melissa O’Brien
Three of the First Directors must stand for re-election at the AGM this year. There are two directors who will not re-stand - Martin Hastings and Maggie Boyce. At this stage, the remaining directors plan to re-nominate.
We would like to request that you advertise these opportunities widely and strongly encourage your membership to consider the skills they have and nominate for a board position. In particular we are looking for professional individuals with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- finance or business management
- athlete development pathways
- strategic thinking - the ability to think at the national level
- leadership skills
- large scale event management experience
In the past nominations have required approval from the state board. Under the new Constitution, AusDBF is happy to receive nominations through state boards, but also direct from individuals. Please note it is not a requirement that an individual be a member of a Member State.
Please send nominations (see attached) to info@ausdbf.com.au by COB Friday 11th November 2016. They should include a statement of approximately one page outlining your relevant skills and experience and what you would like to achieve in your time on the AusDBF board. These statements will be circulated to voting members at least 21 days prior to the AGM.
As per our earlier email:
The AGM is being held in Albury Wodonga, as we would like the members to familiarise themselves with the 2017 Australian Championships race site.
The nearest motel for accommodation is the Albury Paddlesteamer, 324 Wodonga Place Albury (approx. 10 min walk from the St Ives Hotel). However, the attached report prepared by StayOz, our preferred accommodation supplier, lists a range of possibilities.
Please don’t hesitate to contact StayOz for your accommodation needs – they will be very pleased to assist you in your planning.
