Distance, format and rules:
- Clubs can enter one or more teams for the 1km chase race.
- Each club is made up of Women's 10's and also Open 10's. Open can be made up of any number of women and men.
- Clubs can combine with other clubs to form a team.
- Clubs are to nominate when entering what category they are going to race as (Eg Premier, A, B or C) This is then used for handicapping and Median age used to determine winners in Masters/Seniors.
Two types of 1km events will be held:
1. A 1km pursuit race involving a club entering both an Open and a Womens 10s crew. As a team these two boats compete in the same race against an Open and Womens team from another club. The concept is very similar to cycling races at the Velodrome where one team starts on one side of the course and the other team on the opposite side; the Womens crew in each team sets off at the starting gun, and after an interval, the Open crew gives chase. Placings are based on the time given to the second of your teams to cross the line
2. A separate 1km turns race for Open 10s teams, Womens 10s teams and Breast Cancer Survivor 20s crews. This involves a 1km turns race with the fastest Premier time being the winner, with Senior crews placed using a handicap based on age.
- NOTE: If there is demand from small clubs able to enter one Mixed 10s crew, we will look at providing 2-3 races for this group. Please contact DBV direct if this is a real possibility so that we can make an assessment of the viability of such a race.
- Based on the number of entries to date we expect that the two types of events will each involve 2-3 x 1 km races, with at least one heat and a final.
Categories and crew sizes:
1. Womens and Open 10's
2. Breast Cancer Survivors 20's
Cost:
$42 per person for adults and $21 per person for Students or Juniors
