Located in the heart of Docklands, Melbourne Flames Dragon Boat Club is one of Melbourne’s longest-established and most competitive dragon boat clubs. Founded in 2005, the club has grown from humble beginnings into a powerhouse in the Australian dragon boat community. Under the leadership of Head Coach Serghei Cucsa - former scientific advisor to the Soviet Union Canoeing Team and Head Coach of the Australian Dragon Boat Team (2010–2019) - Melbourne Flames is committed to excellence in both training and competition. Serghei is supported by a team of skillful and passionate coaches, ensuring athletes receive top-tier guidance and development. Embracing an inclusive philosophy, the club welcomes individuals of all ages, genders, fitness levels, and cultural backgrounds, as well as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. With a diverse membership spanning a wide age range and over 30 nationalities, Melbourne Flames fosters a strong sense of community and camaraderie. The club’s annual calendar features a mix of local, national, and international competitions, alongside a vibrant social scene. We believe in balancing high-performance racing with an equally strong team spirit off the water.
