The Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne (CYSM) is a non-profit society that has been promoting the Chinese culture since 1966. We offer cultural and sporting activities including dragon boat racing, lion dancing and dragon dancing. The Sea Dragons is CYSM's very own dragon boat team. We were one of the first teams to participate in the Melbourne Dragon Boat Festival in 1985. Although we originally started as a social community team, over the years we have had many members represent Victoria and Australia. We focus on working together and supporting each other in and out of the boat to achieve our competitive goals, always making sure we have fun along the way. We train all year round on Tuesdays and Thursday from 6.30pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 9:30am to noon (October to March). We welcome all newcomers and offer three Come and Try sessions where they can learn the basics and have a go at dragon boating. Our team usually goes out for a well-deserved meal and a catch-up after training. For more information, please check out our website or Facebook |
